About Anthony

Anthony Ogogo is an Olympic medallist, winning a bronze at LONDON 2012. He’s a professional wrestler signed to huge American promotion All Elite Wrestling. He’s a podcaster, actor and model.

Anthony won 10 English / British championships in his illustrious boxing career including 2 senior ABA champions and the first ever GB championships. He represented England and Great Britain well over 100 times, often captaining the England and GB squads at major championships. He won multiple medals whilst boxing internationally including bronze and silvers at European championships and silver medal at the 2010 commonwealth games in New Delhi, India in 2010. He became Junior Olympic Champion in 2004. World Junior Champion in 2005. And his boxing career climaxed at the London 2012 Olympic Games when, against all the odds, he won a bronze medal. On top of this incredible achievement Anthony won a medal whilst his mum was in hospital fighting for her life after suffering a brain aneurysm. Physically he was dealing with a dislocated shoulder, a broken rib and tears in both of his Achilles tendons.

After helping his mum recover from her life threatening illness Anthony was scouted by 10x World Champion and 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist Oscar De La Hoya became the first British boxer to sign with De La Hoya’s LA based promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions.

Animist suffering a dislocated shoulder during a fight and double Achilles’ tendons operations Anthony racked up a perfect 11-0 record and was on the cusp of earning a world title fight when disaster struck. He suffered an orbital fracture when training for a WBC international title fight. Unfortunately the injury was misdiagnosed by the consultant and he was encouraged to fight. During the fight the injury was exacerbated, the eye and soft tissue in the eye suffered irreparable damage. Anthony would go on to have 9 surgeries over the next 3 years, being operated on by some of the most highly regarded ophthalmologists in the world. Unfortunately his eye suffered more damage during one of the procedures and he was forced to retire from boxing.

In 2019 Anthony signed with the new and exciting professional wrestling company All Elite Wrestling, backed by Fulham FC and Jacksonville Jaguars supremo Tony Khan. Anthony is one of the rising stars in the company that in less than 4 years has gone on to become arguably the best wrestling promotion in the world. With AEW soon to be making their UK debut with a monster show at Wembley Stadium this summer.

Outside of wrestling Anthony has been on some of the biggest tv shows in the country. He was on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. Bear Grylls Celebrity Island. Splash! Celebrity Mastermind. He’s appeared on Question of Sport over 10 times. He regularly appears on Celebrity game shows including Celebrity Pointless and Tipping Point raising money for charities that he holds dear including Cancer Research UK and Brainwave. In 2015-16 when Anthony was recovering from an injury he was a presenter of a weekly boxing magazine tv show called Charlie’s Web that he hosted with Charlie Webster. Anthony regularly works as a pundit and commentator for boxing. He’s worked for Sky Sports, BBC, ITV, BT Sport to name just a few.

At one point Anthony was the most sponsored boxer in the world with such partnership with top brands like Nike, Subway, Maximuscle, Coca-Cola and more.

Anthony has worked as a model, modelling for high end fashion brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, DSquared, Lyle & Scott among others and has modelled at Milan Fashion week twice and London fashion week. As well as appearing in catalogues such as the M&M catalogue and the Argos catalogue.

Anthony is embarking on a podcasting career with his new podcasting launching this summer called ‘Getting Back Up, with Anthony Ogogo’ where he talks to successful people that have achieved great thing only after suffered adversity and setback.

Anthony is also embarking on an acting career, training both in London and Atlanta where he splits his time due to his wrestling commitments. Anthony has two movies coming out in 2023 and 2024.
